Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday reappointed Ricardo "Rick" Morales III to the Judicial Qualifications Commission.
Morales is a Jacksonville general contractor and has been president of Morales Construction Inc. since 1987.
He has been on the commission since 2001 and is the current vice chair. The term for his reappointment began Wednesday and ends Dec. 31, 2018.
The 15-member commission consists of two district court of appeal judges chosen by judges of the five district courts; two circuit court judges chosen by all judges of the 20 judicial circuits; two county judges chosen by the 67 county courts; four registered voters who are attorneys and chosen by The Florida Bar board of governors; and five are registered voters who are non-lawyers and appointed by the governor.
The commission is divided into two panels: an "investigative panel" that acts like a prosecutor and a "hearing panel" that acts like panel of judges reviewing a case. The commission investigates alleged misconduct by Florida's judges.
