Daily Record readers showed strong preferences during the second quarter in responding to the Weekly Poll questions:

• 89 percent said high-profile murder cases should not be televised.

• 85 percent do not own stock in a Jacksonville-based public company.

• 83 percent have attended a Blue Angels performance.

83 percent will not buy an NFL jersey this year.

Several questions resulted in more than 70 percent of respondents in agreement:

• 76 percent have ridden a passenger train.

• 75 percent own a PC, 9 percent own a Mac and 16 percent own both.

• 72 percent have made a purchase on Amazon.com.

• 71 percent have attended a job fair.

And close: 69 percent of respondents do not intend to attend a fireworks display July 4.

The Daily Record posts a question every week on jaxdailyrecord.com and on Page 2, asking readers to respond online. The results are not scientific, but do indicate trends and preferences among those responding.

Results are tallied after the poll closes at midnight Sunday. A new question is posted and published Monday morning.

The 13 questions in the second quarter were asked from April through June.

While nine, or well more than half, of the questions resulted in strong views, others drew closer responses.

Asked how they watch television, 60 percent of those responding said they use cable, while 21 percent use satellite and the remaining 19 percent responded they use "other."

Asked which they use most often, 60 percent of respondents said the U.S. Postal Service, while 17 percent

use UPS, 17 percent use FedEx and 6 percent use "other."

Being that time of year, the Daily Record asked if readers had worked as a summer intern, and 56 percent said they had not, while 44 percent had.

Just more than half, or 54 percent, of those responding said they had made a purchase from an auction, while 46 percent said they had not.

The Daily Record wants the views of readers about current events, such as televised murder trials and the canceling of the remaining Blue Angels performances this year, and also about trends, such as the purchase and use of technology and the redesign of NFL logos that means new apparel is for sale.

This week's question, the first of the third quarter, is: "Have you visited a public library in the past 12 months?"

Please respond online at jaxdailyrecord.com.

Thanks for your participation.
