Florida Theatre Development Director Angela Gieras is leaving the organization to become the executive director of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre in Kansas City, Mo.

Her last day at the Florida Theatre is July 18. A search for a new development director is underway.

Gieras came to the Florida Theatre in September 2010 from Dallas, where she was general manager of the Dallas Theatre Center.

Several years before, she worked in Downtown Jacksonville at SunTrust Bank.

While at the Florida Theatre, Gieras executed the organization’s “Rock the Bridge” fundraising gala on the Main Street Bridge. The event raised $140,000. Theaterofficials want to make the event annual.

Annual contributions nearly doubled under her leadership, according to a news release about her departure.

While in Jacksonville, she also launched Downtown Rotaract Jax, a young professionals group, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. She also served on the JAX2025 steering committee, the Downtown Council of the JAX Chamber and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
