With three of its nine seats unfilled, the City Sports and Entertainment Board has had difficulty maintaining a quorum to conduct business.
A board quorum is five members.
According to the mayor's office, those three seats will remain empty.
Asked Tuesday if new candidates have been interviewed for the seats, state Rep. Mia Jones, City director of boards and commissions and special assistant, replied: "Boards and Commissions did not interview any new candidates (for the Sports and Entertainment board). Two are being reappointed: Rick Wilkins and Carl Cannon."
Board members Cannon, Wilkins, Ron Salem and Pamela Payne agreed Tuesday that the board will wait for new members before nominating the next slate of officers.
It was an informal approval because the board did not have a quorum.
Lonnie Marts and Wilfredo Gonzalez did not attend Tuesday's meeting.
Cannon told the board he recently received a letter asking if he wanted to continue serving, but had not replied.
On Tuesday, the board received an update on the Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame lunch.
The event will be held in the West Club of EverBank Field before the Nov. 2 game.
Alan Verlander, City Sports and Entertainment director, told the board representatives of the University of Florida and University of Georgia agreed with the board's preference of holding the event at the stadium.
The venue will help reduce the cost of the event, which last year was held in a tent outside of EverBank Field.
"We are going to look at a couple of different setups for that space and go over it with the schools when they come here in September," said Verlander.
The board also was informed about another event the City is pursuing: the U.S. Curling Championships.
Curling is an Olympic sport popular in the Midwest that involves sliding large stones across ice into a circle.
Joel Lamp, sports and entertainment manager of business development and communication, has been pursuing the event and awaits the results of the bidding process.
He estimates the championship would bring 1,800 room nights in February for the nationally televised event.
