JB Coxwell Contracting Inc., working for JEA, will be required to close a portion of the Arlington Expressway this weekend for the installation of a new water main.
The contractor will temporarily close the eastbound and westbound lanes along with several on-off ramps of the Arlington Expressway.
The work has been scheduled in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation’s ongoing maintenance of the Mathews Bridge.
Construction will start at 8 p.m. today and is estimated to be completed no later than 6 a.m. Monday.
Westbound traffic will be detoured onto the North Arlington Expressway Service Road at the Arlingwood Avenue off-ramp near the North Arlington Expressway Service Road roundabout.
Commuters will not be able to re-enter the Arlington Expressway westbound due to the bridge closure/detour and will be required to continue west along the North Arlington Expressway Service Road to Arlington Road, Cesery Boulevard or University Boulevard.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured to the South Arlington Expressway Service Road off ramp just past the Arlington Road overpass. Commuters will be able to re-enter the Arlington Expressway eastbound at a ramp located near the Kings Inn Motel, 8016 Arlington Expressway.
This work is part of JEA’s Total Water Management Plan project, which involves building a pipeline to transfer water from the west side of the St. Johns River to the east side of the river through the Arlington area, ending near Bradley Road and Cortez Road.
