Demolition was underway Monday to take down the former Gate Petroleum Co. store and vacated adjacent retail stores at Fort Caroline and McCormick roads in Arlington. The 1.29-acre site is slated for conservation. Gate recently opened a larger convenience store and gas station across the street at 11040 McCormick Road. The City issued permits last week for the Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish the structures.
