Jacksonville job fair hosts about 150 employers

Jobseekers and employers converged at the Osborn Center on Monday for the opportunity to fill their employment needs.

U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown and Mayor Alvin Brown welcomed the attendees and thanked the employers for creating business in Jacksonville.

"Incepture is looking to fill 500 positions today. We need more businesses providing opportunities like this," said Corrine Brown.

Incepture is a staffing agency placing employees in the IT, health care and financial services sectors and its corporate headquarters are in Jacksonville. The company was one of about 150 at the job fair, which included private and public-sector employers. Other private sector employers included BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards, CSX, Deutsche Bank, Florida Blue, Humana, Medtronic, Saft America and Winn-Dixie.

Public sector employers included the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, JEA, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, Jacksonville Port Authority, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Department of Health in Duval County and Florida Highway Patrol.

Workshops were available to help attendees develop interview and resume-writing skills.
