Executive Director, Friday Musicale Inc.

Mission

Bringing fine music to the community while adding to its legacy of musical excellence.

Serving Jacksonville

Established in 1890 in Jacksonville, Friday Musicale is the oldest musical organization in the state of Florida.

Those served

At least 15,000 people a year through the annual concert series of 38 events, 50 student recitals and 150 community events that use the venue.

Biggest challenge

The greatest challenge I face as the executive director of Friday Musicale is balancing the organizing and maintaining of 123 years of organizational history and service with moving Friday Musicale forward logistically through updated policies and SMART goals and introducing and fostering innovative concepts to improve our footprint in the greater Jacksonville community.

Biggest satisfaction

Seeing the progress made over the past 10 months since I started the position in board development, collaborations with other organizations, marketing efforts, facility improvements and filing systems after countless hours of hard work by our staff, board and volunteers has been the biggest satisfaction in this position.

First experience with community service

I really can't remember my first experience with community service because I grew up in a family and in churches that were constantly serving the community. We were often involved in serving through Pregnancy Care Centers, the Salvation Army and special needs groups. In high school, I volunteered at Camp Joy, a camp for adults with mental handicaps, and partnered with one camper as his/her special friend for the week. Locally, I enjoy serving through the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville during its Buddy Walk, First Coast Women's Services and the Clara White Mission.
