Construction permits continue to be approved toward the proposed Microsoft Corp. retail store in Jacksonville at St. Johns Town Center.

The City approved a permit Thursday for JTM Construction Group Inc. to work on Microsoft core and shell modifications, architectural and structural work at 4791 River City Drive, No. 107, at a project cost of $400,000.

The permit shows it is a 4,975-square-foot space.

Microsoft and St. Johns Town Center have not confirmed the store, although construction plans clearly show Microsoft as the intended tenant.

The City has been reviewing detailed construction plans for the Microsoft store that indicate a build-out cost of $3.1 million.

Preliminary utility and other landlord work also has been approved at the address to prepare for a tenant. The $26,514 project includes utility work and exterior soft seating.

On April 29, the Daily Record reported Microsoft, which has about 65 full-line and specialty stores in 29 states, Canada and Puerto Rico, intends to open a retail store in St. Johns Town Center, according to the plans filed with the City.
