It's safe to say more of the men who wear business suits each day work Downtown than in any other neighborhood in North Florida. A.J. Reese Clothiers at the Landing caters to that clientele.
Derrick Bryant and Carl Williams opened the shop in April 2012 and have developed a loyal customer base.
"Our clients come to us because they like our product. When we dress a client, they come back," said Williams.
In addition to the traditional business suit-wearing market, Williams said the shop has helped many young men discover new fashions.
"Our young clients discover that for the same amount of money they spend on designer jeans and sneakers, they can wear a suit and then they get a lot of compliments," Williams said.
The location at the Landing, near the Hyatt and Omni hotels, has helped A.J. Reese build a customer list of business and convention travelers in addition to attorneys, bankers and other professionals who work or visit Downtown.
"Being between the two hotels has opened us up to the national market," said Williams.
Personal attention is part of the business plan for the shop. Williams said while most customers come to the Landing to shop and then have their purchases tailored, he and his partner visit many clients in their offices.
"We know that customer service leads to repeat business," he said.
"Most men could use some help with fashion, so we help them dress. Our clients are our best marketing. They are walking representatives of A.J. Reese Clothiers," said Williams.
