A fence has gone up at Hemming Plaza around the raised tree bed on the south side of the square-block public space along Monroe Street.
City spokeswoman Debbie Delgado said the City Parks & Recreation Department installed the fence to protect the water purification system, pumps and electrical system for the plaza’s two fountains.
The department is “trying to eliminate vandalism and unauthorized access to the electrical panel,” she said.
