Jacksonville Bancorp Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary The Jacksonville Bank announced Thursday the appointment of independent board directors John Delaney, Terrie Spiro and William Klich.

Delaney has been president of the University of North Florida since July 2003 and previously served as Jacksonville mayor from 1995-2003 and as a prosecutor. He also serves as lead outside director for Main Street America Group, a property and casualty insurance company.

Spiro, of Amelia Island, began her banking career at Barnett Banks of Florida and has about 30 years of experience as a banker, corporate leader and financial services consultant in multiregional, regional and community bank environments, primarily in the Richmond, Va., and Washington, D.C., areas.

Klich, a Tampa resident, had a 40-year banking career before retiring in June 2010. After serving in the Air Force, Klich had leadership roles at Southeast Bank, Coast Bank — now SunTrust — and Republic Bank — now BB&T. He serves on the American Association of Bank Directors board of advisers and is a consultant to the financial services industry.

Jacksonville Bancorp is a bank-holding company and the parent of The Jacksonville Bank.
