Volunteers with Save Jax Libraries dropped off about 3,200 petitions at the Duval County Supervisor of Elections office Thursday in an effort to place a straw poll on the November 2014 ballot. Pictured, from left, Election Assistants Trish Carter and Katrell McKenzie, and Save Jax Libraries volunteers Geneva Fountain, Bill Brinton, John Hall, Alicia Grant, Cyndy Clayton and Helene Kamps-Stewart. The poll would ask voters if they would support creating a special taxing district to fund Jacksonville Public Libraries. The petitions dropped off Thursday pushed the total to about 5,000 of the 26,000 required for the poll to be included on the ballot.
