David Brown was the first customer this morning at the new McDonald’s restaurant Downtown at 201 E. State St. Brown ordered his cup of coffee at 6:45 a.m. He works nearby at All-Pro Asphalt and said he and his co-workers have “really been looking forward to McDonald’s opening.” David Mullins Jr., vice president of operations for DCC Lee Enterprises Inc., said the new restaurant is the franchise’s 18th set of “Golden Arches” in Jacksonville. He said a grand-opening celebration is planned the week of April 8 with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony April 12. The 3,900-square-foot store opens with 55 crew members and 12 managers. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
