It was an old event in a new setting and the evening worked for all.

The Laurels, a centerpiece of the area's awards season, ventured afield to the Cascades at the World Golf Village last month with the approval that had come at hotel and club venues elsewhere in Northeast Florida.

A pair of retired Sales and Marketing Council stalwarts took the top awards.

Cal Williams, a longtime Realtor and site agent, most recently with Lennar, received the Dick Baker Memorial Award for service to SMC, and Sue Andrews, recently retired, was named Member of the Year, in large part for her work with SMC Cares.

They headed a lengthy list of winners that included individual awards, corporate accomplishments and the usual long list of Million Dollar Circle winners.

The Golden Service Award went to Mark Downing and his CornerStone Homes. The Developer of the Year was The PARC Group, which has nurtured Nocatee from the start, and the Realtor of the Year was Re/Max Coastal's Judy Hicks.

The Lender of the Year was Diana Dilallo Tarzia of PrimeLending and the Marketing Director of the Year was Amber Williams of Lennar. The Sales Manager of the Year was Tom Daddario of Lennar and Ben Bauzon of Drees Homes took Site Agent of the Year honors.

The Laurels are chosen annually by the SMC, a division of the Northeast Florida Builders Association.
