The pre-party for the 2013 Players Championship begins at 4 p.m. Friday when “Tee Off Downtown: Divots, Drinks & Drives” begins at the Jacksonville Shipyards property along the Northbank.

Billy Catlin, principal of Orange Peel Entertainment LLC, said it’s the first time the site hosted such an event since Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005.

“The tournament is in Ponte Vedra, so Tee Off Downtown is a way for Jacksonville and all of Duval County to embrace The Players as our own,” Catlin said.

Seven Nations and The Dirty Guv’nahs are scheduled to perform while guests partake in food truck fare and a cash bar, said Catlin.

A putting contest, chipping contest and a state-of-the-art golf simulator for a long-drive contest also are scheduled for entertainment.

The $35 per person general admission ticket allows guests parking, entry to the event and the concerts.

The $150 per person level includes parking, entry, concerts, open bar and access to a VIP area.
