Executive Suite Professionals hosted an unorthodox "ground-breaking" ceremony Thursday at EverBank Center.
It was the first time such a ceremony, complete with the traditional golden shovels, has taken place 14 stories above the sidewalk at 301 W. Bay St.
The new venture is a partnership between Duke Addison, president and CEO of Addison Commercial Real Estate, and Lisa Gufford, who has more than 10 years of business management experience.
The concept is to provide an all-inclusive Class A office environment on the scale needed by entrepreneurs and small companies.
The first phase of the project on the 14th floor at
EverBank Center will include 50 office suites and three meeting rooms, plus a reception area.
The "Executive Suite" package includes a fully equipped office with a telephone and private number; voice mail and high-speed Internet; a full-time receptionist; and access to meeting rooms, a kitchen and a lounge; complimentary parking for the first 12 months and other amenities.
"We call it ESP because we know what you need," Gufford said.
The concept was created to meet the needs of professionals and new business owners who want a Class A environment at an address, while being able to control monthly overhead cost, Addison said.
"This is designed for people on the upswing who are starting out and also for people who might have been downsized and are starting out on their own. This environment is a great incubator. It can allow a small company to expand conveniently," he said.
Gufford said the business is designed to accommodate the needs of professionals, including accountants, attorneys and psychologists.
"It's a diverse market and we feel Downtown is where we need to be. Being a block from the courthouse, we think the legal market will be strong," said Addison.
Asked if Executive Suite could be compared to CoWork Jax — the open floor plan shared office environment along Forsyth Street — Gufford said it's a similar format with a different ambiance.
"CoWork is Starbucks, we're the Ritz," she said.
The first phase is scheduled to be ready for occupancy by July 1.
