Florida Coastal School of Law announced Monday that Dennis Stone, current Charlotte School of Law president, has been appointed president of the school and that Dean Peter Goplerud has been selected to lead a new entity focused on legal education.
Stone has more than 30 years of experience in legal education and has served as director of the law library at the University of Connecticut School of Law and in a similar capacity at Gonzaga University School of Law.
Stone succeeds Rick Inatome, CEO of the InfiLaw System of Schools who will continue to serve in that role, according to a news release.
The InfiLaw group comprises Florida Coastal, Charlotte School of Law and Phoenix School of Law. The system is a consortium of independent American Bar Association-approved law schools structured and staffed to provide students with a legal education that is “responsive and relevant to their needs in a rapidly changing market environment.”
Stone is a founding member of the consortium and founding executive of Florida Coastal.
Goplerud, Florida Coastal dean since 2004, has been selected to lead InfiLaw’s management services company, which will use the consortium’s experience and tools to expand the reach of its mission.
An interim Florida Coastal Dean will be appointed in the coming weeks and a national search for a permanent dean will begin in the near future, according to the release.
