Chase bank announced this morning it is continuing its Florida expansion, with plans to open its first locations in Jacksonville in early fall and that it is adding 10 ATM locations this year in the market.

Construction on the first three locations begins immediately. The release said plans call for more than a dozen branches in the area.

“The new branches will feature the most innovative technology from the bank, offering convenience, efficiency and access for customers around the region,” said a news release.

“Chase is already one of Jacksonville’s largest employers. Approximately 4,000 work for Chase at its Deerwood Park and Baymeadows campuses, supporting its national mortgage company,” said the release.

In addition to the retail expansion, the bank is bringing its business and commercial bank into the market, said the release.

”Expanding our presence into Jacksonville is a priority so that we can better provide our customers with a full range of services, whether for their personal or business needs.  We look forward to bringing the best of the brand to this market,” said Mel Martinez, chairman of JPMorgan Chase in Florida and the Southeast.

The bank named Michael Butler as market president and Steve Vachon to lead the

consumer banking operation. Both executives are Jacksonville residents and will be part of the

bank’s local market leadership team.

Butler’s title is market leader for commercial bank. Before joining Chase, he was region president for SunTrust Bank in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Vachon is senior vice president and retail market manager. He spent the past 17 years in management positions with Chase. Most recently, he led branches in the rapidly growing South Florida area for Chase.

Since entering the Florida market in 2004, Chase has invested more than $300 million growing its Florida presence. Chase and its businesses employ more than 17,000 people in the state across JPMorgan, Chase, mortgage, business banking and other operations, and serves customers through its network of 338 local branches.
