The Jacksonville Bar Association announced Thursday that Braxton Gillam of Milam Howard Nicandri Dees & Gillam was voted as the association's 111th president.
Voting concluded Thursday evening at the annual meeting at Deerwood Country Club, with 475 votes cast. The JBA has nearly 2,000 members.
Gillam has served on The JBA's board of governors since 2004 and is serving as president-elect under current President Ray Driver. Gillam ran unopposed for the 2013-14 seat.
"We have a good group of hard workers, a very strong group of committed volunteers on our board, and that's why we have been successful and will continue to be successful," said Gillam.
President-elect Troy Smith of Rogers Towers also ran unopposed and will follow Gillam for a second time. Smith served as JBA Young Lawyers Section president in 2005-06, a year after Gillam.
Board of governors members Geddes Anderson, Michael Bateh, Katie Dearing and Lee Wedekind were re-elected to the board. Blane McCarthy and Young Lawyers Section President Michael Orr will serve their first terms as full members of the board.
The Young Lawyers Section president serves as an ex-officio member of the board, but Orr will continue to serve the board as a full member.
The annual meeting followed the association's annual golf outing.
