Metro Diner plans proceeding at Roosevelt Square
Davolis Food Co. IV LLC, run by the Davolis who own the Metro Diners around town, has asked for a zoning exception for outside sales and service of food at its planned Roosevelt Square restaurant at 4529 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite 408.
Metro Diner proposes outdoor patio seating for the location, much like its other locations at 3302 Hendricks Ave., 12807 San Jose Blvd. and 1534 Third St. N. in Jacksonville Beach.
A site plan shows the Roosevelt Square location is across the parking lot from the Belk store.
Metro Diner owners Mark and John Davoli recently said the Roosevelt Square location would open July 29.
The diners operate 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

Pizza Hut OK'd, another pending
The City OK'd a Pizza Hut carryout at 12525 Philips Highway, No. 112. JJProvidence Construction Co. LLC is the contractor for the 1,200-square-foot unit at a project cost of $146,880.
The permit shows it is the "Delco Lite" design, which Entrepreneur.com described in December 2011 as "a smaller layout that trades the famous red roof for a more contemporary design that fits snugly into mini-malls and other in-line shopping spaces."
The site quoted Chief Marketing Officer Kurt Kane as saying the new model is "a lower investment point."
"We'll be able to place them in new towns, and even open up in places we thought were fully penetrated. Now we have 2,000 new trade areas we can open in the next few years," he said.
A permit application also has been filed for a Pizza Hut delivery/carryout at 6733 103rd St., No. 20. It also is about 1,200 square feet.
The pizzahut.com site shows at least 10 Pizza Hut locations in Duval County.
