An accurate timepiece is essential for getting where you need to be when you need to be there.
Appropriately named Clockwork Marketing provides the services companies need to do the same thing.
And Clockwork's success in doing that lies in the precision of a team that functions like the finely-tuned inner workings of a clock.
"I attribute our longevity and our success to our team and our reliance on each other to bring together all the elements a client needs," said Maxine McBride, the company's founder and president. "The company is not identified with any one personality because it does take a team of experienced, knowledgeable, creative individuals to do what we do."
And, what Clockwork does is provide a multilayered array of services: public relations, training, research, creative and website design and effective market planning.
McBride started Clockwork in Sarasota to provide marketing and public relations services for the real estate industry in 1994.
"The first thing I did was to connect with the homebuilders association, the Manatee HBA," she said. "I served on the board of directors and started their Sales and Marketing Council. We were the first in the nation for membership growth the year I chaired it."
McBride and the company moved to Jacksonville in 1999, when her husband, Roger Postlethwaite, came here to join Ed Burr at LandMar.
"I joined NEFBA and the SMC immediately," McBride said. "Over the years, I've served on the board and in other capacities because I'm convinced that a strong association helps all the members, the community and the industry. NEFBA has been an important part of our success."
Staying loyal to the association is especially important in times of economic downturns, McBride said.
"Staying plugged in to NEFBA was key to survival," she said. "We also focused on our core business, which means we eliminated some services that weren't essential. And, tight financial control was an absolute necessity."
McBride and the Clockwork team are excited about seeing a more positive business climate, as all indicators point to steady gains industrywide.
"We have deep roots in the industry and the community," McBride said. "Those relationships developed over the years – we celebrate our 20th anniversary next year – have given us our expertise in real estate, building and development."
Jacksonville relationships in addition to NEFBA, include JAXChamber (now headed by former NEFBA Executive Director Daniel Davis), NAIOP (a national commercial real estate development association) and the Urban Land Institute North Florida District Council, of which McBride is a founding member.
"Working as a team is a huge advantage for our clients," she said. "Our staff has depth and range. We energize each other and the client benefits from the expertise of the entire team. If we can understand what you do, we can do a good job of promoting you."
Greg Matovina, past NEFBA president (2004), salutes Clockwork for the excellent work they do for all their clients.
"The Clockwork Marketing team has been a huge supporter of NEFBA, and we are so blessed to be able to work with them," Matovina said. "Their innovation, hard work, knowledge of the market and contacts with the media provide an incredible resource for getting NEFBA's message to Northeast Florida."
