What an exciting time at NEFBA! Last month we welcomed Corey Deal as NEFBA’s executive director, Matt Wilford as Builders Care’s executive director and Penelope Geismar as head of the NEFBA apprentice program.

We want to thank those who carried on the functions of the association and of Builders Care before the new executive directors were named. Greg Matovina, former NEFBA president (2004), accomplished much in the two months he served in an interim capacity. He started the ball rolling to hire the Builders Care head and to fill the apprentice program vacancy. He participated actively in the day-to-day business of the association and did more than just keep it afloat – he made real progress. For that, we thank him.

And, we owe a special thanks to Bill Wilson, who resumed his leadership role at Builders Care until a new director could be found. Bill is known for his passion for the homeowners, not-for-profit organizations and those who receive services from Builders Care. We also thank Bill for all he continues to do for Builders Care.

Rebuilding our industry has been a challenge but one we have faced head on, and our efforts and hard decisions are yielding great results. We see increases in activity, and we see people working smarter. There’s an air of anticipation and optimism in NEFBA meetings and events. The enthusiasm is contagious.

It’s a time of growth at NEFBA, and I encourage you to continue your active support of NEFBA-sponsored events through the end of the year. Make an extra effort to attend council and committee meetings. Be a sponsor. Be a volunteer. Be a leader. Step up to the plate and let’s make this pivotal year one for the record books. We probably won’t surpass the statistics of the boom years, but we can make new records in the area of increasing membership, increasing outreach and increasing our commitment to the industry and to each other.

Sincerely,

Dennis Ginder

NEFBA President
