Southlight Gallery, one of Downtown's original "Off the Grid" art spaces, debuted four years ago along Forsyth Street. Two years ago, the collective of artists moved their work to a space on the second floor of the Dyal-Upchurch Building at 6 E. Bay St.
The gallery is making its second relocation this weekend when the paintings, photographs and sculptures by more than 25 local artists will be packed and transported to Southlight's new home at 201 N. Hogan St. in the Levy Building.
Southlight Artist in Residence and Marketing Director Pam Zambetti said having the gallery in the Dyal-Upchurch Building has been a success for the artists and their patrons, but moving to the space one block from Hemming Plaza and into a site on street level will offer new opportunities.
"We're moving back into the heart of Art Walk and we'll be much more visible with the storefront," she said.
The new gallery will be ready for visitors next week in time for First Wednesday Art Walk.
"We have the largest collection of fine art Downtown other than at the Museum of Contemporary Art and our art is for sale," she said.
