The National Association of Home Builders has chosen the month of May to celebrate professional remodelers

One important mission of the national remodelers group is to promote the benefits of hiring a professional remodeler.

NEFBA’s Remodelers Council is made up of the area’s finest professional contractors, designers and suppliers. And, their website is your gateway to the information your company needs concerning regulations, local permitting offices and marketing suggestions.

There is also information for consumers: choosing professional remodelers, products and services and a wealth of related information. Check it out at jaxremodelers.com.

The Remodelers Council is outstanding for its members’ willingness to donate their skills, expertise and materials for those in need.

One example is the more than $35,000 worth of renovations the council provided a 15-year-old Northside teenager suffering from multiple health problems. The addition of a bathroom and other upgrades to the home changed the life of Dawn Boles and her family.

“It’s been amazing to see the change in her,” said Dawn’s grandmother Barbara Antill. “she is more independent now that she can handle these things herself. I’m so proud of the room itself but even happier about the change it’s made in Dawn’s life.”

The project was headed by Tom Trout, Tom Trout Inc. (general contractor), assisted by designer Cheryl Martin Conner, Schulte Design Associates; Katrina Hosea, president of BeeTree Homes and then-chair of the Remodelers Council; and many others.

“Our group (Remodelers Council) is filled with generous, compassionate people,” Hosea said. “We were moved by Dawn’s story and many people pitched in with laborers, materials and funds. Now a 15-year-old girl who lives with chronic pain can find a few hours of relief soaking in her tub. Now she can maneuver in and out of the bathroom on her own. What a blessing to be part of this remarkable story.”

(Dawn Bolles’ story appeared in The Florida Times-Union on April 19.)
