NEFBA’s Apprenticeship Program is proud to announce that it has adopted NCCER standards for its electrical, plumbing and HVAC training. Carpentry has been using the nationally recognized materials and assessments for several years.
NCCER training establishes a workforce with documented, portable credentials. The same standards are applicable across state lines. It goes a long way in attracting and retaining a high-caliber workforce.
The advantages and benefits of using NCCER materials and assessments are significant and include the following:
• Fosters national unity in construction training practices for benefit of individuals and industry;
• Provides structured training path to avoid year to year overlap;
• Uses modular format to ensure consistent subject matter coverage;
• Modular approach helps pinpoint apprentice’s strengths and weaknesses;
• Partners with the construction industry to provide consistent training processes;
• Combines technical instruction with written tests and hands-on practical exercises;
• Offers an online study component, NCCER Connect; and,
• Allows for nationally recognized certifications
NCCER is a not-for-profit education foundation created in 1996 as the National Center for Construction Education and Research. More than 125 construction CEOs, trade association and academic leaders united to create a construction curriculum for training in more than 70 craft areas.
NCCER’s training-and-credentialing program for the construction industry is recognized nationwide. Now there are more than 4,000 NCCER-accredited training and assessment locations in the United States.
NCCER is affiliated with the M.E. Rinker School of Building Construction at the University of Florida and is headquartered in Alachua, Fla.
