Background: Jerry Dean began his career 25 years ago with a local Jacksonville homebuilder. He also gained experience in the commercial construction industry before making the decision that residential building was his preference. He started his own firm, Dean Wade Homes. Two years ago, he accepted an offer to become division president for Vintage Estate Homes, with offices throughout Florida and two in Texas.

Council events: Monthly socials, monthly member meetings, fishing tournament, Parade of Homes and golf tournament. Proceeds from fundraising events support local charities.

Council goals: Dean’s goal for the council is to increase membership, not just in number of members but in member participation. Dean’s goal to strengthen the council is necessary to meet the growth rate of St. Johns County.

Benefits of council membership: By far the greatest benefit of belonging to the council is the advantage of a strong government affairs presence. The council is deeply involved in county government, giving members a voice in the decision-making process. It is also extremely helpful in keeping up with regulatory changes and interpretations that affect the industry. Another benefit for associate members is their direct access to area builders and the association’s general policy of doing business with other members.
