Amber Williams and Cole Slate returned to the spotlight this year, once again taking top individual marketing awards from the Florida Home Builders Association.

The association presented its Sales and Marketing Council Excel awards in July at the Southeast Building Conference in Orlando.

Williams of Lennar in Jacksonville won Marketing Director of the Year and Slate of Yellowfin Realty St. Johns, Salesperson of the Year.

It’s the third time Williams has received the award at the state level.

“It’s still very humbling and very exciting. It never gets old,” she said.

Despite her past success, Williams said she did not take it for granted she would win. With new people coming into the industry, the competition keeps getting tougher, she said.

Slate, who last year won Rookie of the Year at the regional and state level and was a finalist at the national level, said he was surprised to follow that with the 2015 associate of the year honor.

“There’s a lot of competition at the associate level,” he said. “For me, it confirms my hard work with the builders association and my relationships with the community are paying off.”

The state SMC Excel awards honor Florida’s best marketing professionals in the home building industry.

This year, Northeast Florida’s profile was on the rise. Seven winners from the region snagged a total of nine awards.

Also, Northeast Florida’s SMC dogged at the heels of Tampa Bay’s once again this year, placing a close second as the state’s top SMC organization, with less than two points separating each.
