It was a month of introductions and farewells. Of salutes for deeds past and renewed commitments for the future.
Northeast Florida Association of Realtors outgoing President Linda McMorrow said 2014 was a good year. One that saw 1,098 new members join what is already the region’s largest professional association.
The political action committee raised $110,473 and now claims 35 major investors — both new records for NEFAR, McMorrow said.
She called the group’s September work project — remodeling apartments for homeless youth at Daniel’s Project Prepare — a “shining star,” for the year.
McMorrow thanked her sister, Selby Kaiser, for taking care of their brokerage during her term and honored her with the Presidential Service Award.
Incoming President Sally Suslak welcomed members, saying, “The camaraderie here is just evident.”
She challenged them to use opportunities in NEFAR to make new connections this year — taking education and business courses, sharing ideas and meeting people with like-minded needs and interests.
“It’s human nature for us to enjoy spending time with and seeking out those we already know,” Suslak said. “Building new connections is a little less comfortable at times. … But, doing so will boost your professionalism and proficiency in real estate.”
