By the time you are reading this letter, I will be marking the halfway point in my year as NEFBA president. And, what a remarkable year it has been.

With each passing month, I become more acutely aware of the ways our association touches the community and the residents of Northeast Florida.

The underlying impact is the economic effect the construction industry has on the stability and growth of the region. It’s difficult to take a picture of that, but other impacts make good photo subjects.

The apprentice graduation is a good example of that. I was honored to deliver the commencement address to the 14 program graduates.

After four years of work and school, the graduates are on a solid career path. Their faces, and the smiling, proud faces of their families could have been a Norman Rockwell painting.

Likewise, the enthusiasm of the membership drive teams as they took their turns in the office, calling prospects, extolling the benefits of membership and pulling out all the stops to recruit new members. Again, many photo opportunities during that time of intense concentration and effort.

You will see some of those pictures in this edition of Builder News. Every month brings a different effort, a different cause, but all with the same goal — to make this association bigger, better, stronger, more effective, more influential and more beneficial to its members.

Thank you for all you do on behalf of the association. I’m proud of what you have accomplished this year and grateful for the opportunity to be part of it all.

Sincerely,

Rick A. Morales
