NEFBA mourned the loss of two of its long-time dedicated members in April: Jack Demetree and Sid Higginbotham.
Past President Jack C. Demetree passed away April 15.
Demetree was president in 1969 and was on the team that chose Arnold Tritt as the association’s executive director. He also served as president of the Florida Home Builders Association in 1975.
He was inducted into both the National Association of Home Builders Hall of Fame and the Florida Association of Home Builders Hall of Fame.
He served as a positive driving force in the industry, the community and the association for many years.
Sid Higginbotham died on April 23, at the age of 84.
He was a long-time NEFBA member and former board member.
Higginbotham was especially well known in the Clay Builders Council.
His support of that group was a great asset, and Bill Garrison, who worked for Higginbotham, was the council chair.
Higginbotham had a reputation as an honorable man and an honorable builder. He served as a mentor to many in the decades he served the industry.
“NEFBA owes a great deal to Jack Demetree and Sid Higginbotham,” said NEFBA Executive Director Corey Deal. “Both are men who will be remembered for their commitment to their respective communities, to the industry and to this association. Their involvement in the association made it stronger, made it grow and helped shape its future. We will miss them, and we will always be grateful for their impact on our lives.”
