Brightway Insurance celebrated its seventh year in business Aug. 20.
Founder and Chairman David Miller, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman Michael Miller and President Talman Howard hosted an anniversary celebration for the company’s 200 Jacksonville employees.
The Jacksonville-based franchise is the seventh largest privately held personal lines independent insurance agency in the country. Begun in 2008, it has grown to 117 locations in 10 states.
In mid-August, the company was named to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America for the seventh consecutive year.
Brightway was also recognized in 2015 as America’s No. 1 Franchise to Buy by Forbes magazine in the under $150k category, and named a Top 500 Franchise by Entrepreneur magazine for the second year in a row.

LandSouth Construction, a Jacksonville-based contractor specializing in multifamily, senior housing and mixed use developments, has begun construction on LIV rental apartments at ChampionsGate, a $32 million luxury apartment community in Davenport.
The gated community will feature 308 residences and a resort-style clubhouse in five buildings situated on 11.6 beautifully landscaped acres.
LIV rental apartments at ChampionsGate is expected to be completed in early 2017.

Davidson Realty Agent Mirtha Barzaga recently launched a charity program to provide ongoing support to Wards Creek Elementary, Pacetti Bay Middle and Nease High schools in St. Johns County.
The Barzaga team and several trade partners will contribute a portion of business generated or referred by the schools’ teachers and faculty back to the schools themselves.
Portions donated vary by vendor. Team Barzaga will donate 1 percent of its commissions from school referrals.
Other participants include Bank of England, Donna Mancini Staging & Redesign Inc., Kimmie’s Cleaners & Angel Painting, Citrus Carpet & Tile Cleaning, AB Mobile Tint, Salameh Group and Old Republic Home Protection.

Ajax Building Corp., a family-owned commercial construction management company, recently named three Northeast Florida trade partners as Subcontractor of the Year award winners for their commitment to teamwork, safety and a high level of quality for work on the Osprey Clubhouse on the University of North Florida’s campus.
The winners in the Northeast Florida Region are Besch and Smith Civil Group Inc., St. Augustine; J.E. Abercrombie Inc., Jacksonville; and Regency Electric Co. Inc., Jacksonville.
Winners were selected from criteria based on Ajax’s safety programs and practices, adherence to the project schedule, project documentation, their ability to contribute to a quality job for each client and their overall teamwork approach in the performance of their work.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty has donated $61,438 in two years for Dreams Come True, a local nonprofit that fulfills the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
The campaign began in August 2013 as part of the Berkshire Hathway’s 25th anniversary. The company has since pledged ongoing support for the charity.
Money raised has sponsored dreams for children and their families, including vacation packages to Disney World, Discovery Cove and Hawaii.
The company also collected 733 backpacks filled with school supplies for children in Northeast Florida during its 16th Annual Backpack Challenge.
The backpacks were donated to students via The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Community Connections of Jacksonville, Operation New Hope, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry in Jacksonville Beach, R.B. Hunt Elementary School and the Webster School in St. Augustine and S. Bryan Jennings Elementary School in Orange Park.
