Cole Slate is somewhat a rarity in Jacksonville.

He is a Jacksonville native. He grew up in Julington Creek and graduated from Bartram Trails High School.

He matriculated to the University of Florida and has a degree in Family, Youth and Community Sciences.

Slate became a licensed Realtor in 2012 and soon became chair of the Young Professionals group. He is a member of the Sales and Marketing Council and serves on its board of directors, and this year was named to the NEFBA board.

He is the Jacksonville chair of Best Buddies, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring social inclusion to individuals with intellectual and developmental delays.

The Young Professionals meet quarterly. The most recent event was the second annual Cornhole Tournament on Sept. 3. This team-building event pairs one builder and one associate, and Slate sees this as an excellent way to foster new relationships.

“I see that as our primary goal,” Slate said. “I want to see every member benefit from their participation in NEFBA as much as possible. NEFBA offers the best possible mix of resources for anything and everything related to building homes: mortgage brokers, designers, pest control, landscapers, real estate brokers, accountants and many others. All you have to do is look at the list of associate members in your membership guide.”

Slate says NEFBA’s councils exponentially add to the value of membership.

“We want to be the Swiss army knife of everything related to building in Northeast Florida,” he said. “Joining a council, ours or one specifically related to your geographic area or special interest, adds significantly to the value proposition of your NEFBA membership.”
