Congratulations to Jessie Spradley, NEFBA’s director of government affairs.

Spradley was awarded the J.L. McMullen Good Government Award by Junior Chamber International for his work in the community last year that contributes to good government.

Those activities included organizing local candidate forums geared toward young professionals. These forums provide opportunities for young people to speak directly to candidates for local office and get them engaged in the political process.

Spradley also excelled at his job with NEFBA, which he joined in 2013. During his tenure at NEFBA, NEFBA has interviewed hundreds of candidates for local and state office and endorsed and supported more than 50 candidates. NEFBA successfully supported 21 candidates for local office in the 2015 Jacksonville elections, including Mayor Lenny Curry.

Spradley also serves as the liaison with the Clay Builders Council and works with the Codes and Standards Committee. Prior to joining NEFBA, Spradley was an aide to Rep. Charles McBurney, State House of Representatives District 16.

Outside of NEFBA, Spradley serves as chairman of the board for the Greater Jacksonville Jaycees, and during his tenure as president in 2014, the chapter received numerous state and national awards, topped off with an international award for its McCoys Creek Cleanup program. He also is a member of the Young Republicans and the St. Johns Riverkeeper Rising Tides.

As a part of the U.S. Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International, JCI Florida is dedicated to creating positive change through projects in 5,000 communities in more than 100 countries. Members seek targeted solutions to local problems, creating a global impact.

JCI Florida honors individuals who exceed expectations in various categories at its annual Outstanding Young Floridians Awards Program.
