After six years in the U.S. Navy, David Reed worked in the construction industry doing custom residential and light commercial contracting.

Using his GI Bill education benefit, Reed entered the electrical engineering program at the University of North Florida. Upon graduation, he worked in the university’s Electrical Engineering Research lab and entered the MBA program.

He began work at JEA in the conservation group managing a new program partnership with NEFBA, known as Green Built Homes of Florida.

The program incentivized and helped builders meet EPA Energy Star standards for homes.

Over the years, the program added other green certification programs, such as FGBC, LEED and NAHB Green.

In 2014, Reed moved to JEA’s commercial accounts group, where he manages relationships with large industrial manufacturers, builders and developers.

Council events: The E-Council events and training sessions are scheduled as opportunities arise. The weekly NEFBA News email and the calendar of events (in Builder News and online) announce upcoming events.

Goals for the council: The E-Council is focused on providing quality building science education to the construction. Its goal is to help builders build more efficient, durable and cost-effective buildings through the application of building science fundamentals.

Benefits of council membership: E-Council membership is free to all NEFBA members. It offers a valuable educational opportunity to all who attend trainings and workshops. It is also a platform for exchange of experiences and trend-setting developments in the industry.
