Portus Services LLC filed a notice with the state last week saying its contract to perform stevedoring and terminal services at Blount Island expires June 30, affecting 138 employees.

“We understand that many of our employees at this location will receive offers of employment from the new vendor at this location,” Portus said in its April 28 letter filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

The company said a majority of the employees are represented by unions.

Portus, a division of Jacksonville-based Patriot Rail & Ports, has been providing services at Blount Island since 1992, according to the Patriot website.
