Family Kia of St. Augustine is renovating its showroom 12 years after the last significant alteration.
St. Johns County issued a build-out permit Aug. 8 for the dealership at 2665 U.S. 1, S. about 1.5 miles south of Florida 212.
West Palm Beach-based AutoBuilders General Contracting Services is the contractor. Synthesis Architects of Schenectady, New York, is the architect for the $1.2 million project designed to meet the carmaker’s standards for its showrooms.
According to the permit, work includes new walls and light fixtures, Kia-branded soffits and renovated restrooms, along with new exterior wall signs, accents, siding and painting.
Kia added about 5,000 square feet to the showroom at a cost of $702,115 in October 2013. The dealership opened in October 2000.
According to familykia.com, the dealership is a two-time recipient of the Kia Platinum Prestige award, given to the top 20 Kia dealers in the U.S. and the top 3% in the world. The award recognizes excellence in customer satisfaction, management, performance and facility standards.
According to property records, St. Augustine KI-RE LLC of Henderson, Nevada, purchased the 6.6-acre property from Stoff Motor Co. of Palm Coast through DNC Property LLC in 2021 for $3.5 million.
It included the dealership administration building with the sales and parts department, customer and vehicle inventory parking, and a service building renovated in October 2024 at a cost of $452,000.
In addition to the St. Augustine location, there are three Kia dealerships in Northeast Florida: Kia of Orange Park at 6373 Blanding Blvd., Greenway Kia at the Avenues at 10564 Philips Highway and Kia on Atlantic at 11750 Abess Blvd., which relocated from 9401 Atlantic Blvd. about two months ago.
