Fort Lauderdale-based Quality Built LLC filed a notice with state officials saying it ceased all operations and terminated all employees effective July 3, including 20 at its Jacksonville-based subsidiary SkyeTec.
Quality Built, a third-party testing and inspection service provider, acquired SkyeTec in 2021.
SkyeTec provided third-party inspections for residential and commercial construction projects, according to its website.
“Due to unforeseen business circumstances, the Company is liquidating and terminated all employees effective July 3, 2025,” Quality Built said in a letter sent July 7 to the Florida Department of Commerce under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
“This difficult decision was not anticipated and resulted from sudden and unexpected business developments that made it impossible for the Company to remain viable,” it said.
Quality Built said the closure resulted in 50 workers losing their jobs in Fort Lauderdale, in addition to the 20 in Jacksonville.
The company maintained an office in Fort Lauderdale and at 9570 Regency Square Blvd. in Jacksonville, but “a vast majority of the Company’s employees located within your state worked remotely from their homes and/or at customer worksites,” the WARN letter said.
“While this is difficult news, the Company provided written and verbal notice to employees as soon as the Company was able after learning of the unforeseen business circumstances,” it said.
SkyeTec was founded in 2000 as a mold assessment and indoor air quality company and expanded its services to include third-party consultation, energy ratings and building inspections.
Quality Built was owned since 2019 by private equity firm Gallant Capital.
