Fast-casual restaurant Manders 22 is permitted to build-out in St. Augustine.
The restaurant is at 104 Ashourian Ave., Suite 103, in The Forum at Greenbriar shopping center off County Road 210.
The county issued the permit July 16 at a project cost of about $28,000.
Manders 22 will offer a regional dish from Binghamton, New York, called spiedies — marinated, cubed chicken, pork, beef or lamb — skewered, grilled and served on Italian bread.
The menu also includes smash burgers, subs and salads.
Jacksonville-based Stratum Contracting & Construction Management is the contractor. The owners are father and son Jeff and Jake Manders. The number 22 is one they shared on jerseys worn across multiple sports.
Jeff Manders, a Binghamton native and real estate associate with Re/Max Connects, said April 1 that opening a sandwich shop had “been inside my head for the better part of 30 years.”
He previously worked at American Express, IBM and Dell Technologies for 40 years.
After two years in real estate, he got a call from Jake, who was working in logistics in South Florida.
“He basically said, ‘Hey Dad, I don’t know if I want to do this whole corporate thing the rest of my life. I’d rather just work for myself, something we can do together,’” Manders said.
Entrée prices start at $8 for a single-patty smash burger and range up to $23 for the Manders Signature Sub, made with Italian meats, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, pesto, hot pepper relish and onions.
Waffle, shoestring and chili-cheese fries are on the menu. Desserts include cookies and glazed doughnuts, along with the Perfect Pair — two beignets with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and optional caramel, chocolate or strawberry drizzle.
Manders said he hopes to open the restaurant by the end of July, but the “worst-case” date is Aug. 5.
Hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The space will include six tables with seating for up to 18 customers, he said.
