Community First Credit Union opened its branch in Callahan, its second in Nassau County.

It is at 542523 U.S. Highway 1 between Old Dixie Highway and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Credit union staff, leadership and board members held a ribbon cutting July 21 with Callahan Mayor Matthew Davis, representatives from the Nassau County Economic Development Board and the office of U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Florida.

The Callahan branch is Community First’s 24th in Northeast Florida.

Community First opened a branch in Yulee in 2018. It reports nearly 10,000 members in Nassau County, including about 1,800 in Callahan.

The 3,100-square-foot freestanding branch includes a full-service drive-thru and drive-up and walk-up ATMs.

It was designed with an open floor plan concept and a mural depicting the history of West Nassau County.

The credit union bought the land in May 2024 for $585,000.

Community First has opened five branches since 2022 and plans further expansion.

It recently announced a new branch in Beachwalk in St. Johns County and future locations in Treaty Oaks in St. Johns County and Green Cove Springs.

Community First also plans to repurpose the former Edgewood Bakery building in Murray Hill as a branch.

The credit union reports $2.8 billion in assets, 180,000 members and more than 450 employees.
