O’Reilly Auto Parts’ sixth Clay County location is planned in Keystone Heights.
The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing an application for an environmental resource permit, a critical step for new developments.
The project is planned at 215 N. Lawrence Blvd., a 1-acre undeveloped lot that is privately owned. The application states the project will “disturb the entire site.”
The store will follow O’Reilly’s standard 7,454-square-foot design. While the application also mentions associated parking, it does not specify how many spaces.
According to corporate.oreillyauto.com, parcels for new construction must accommodate 30 to 40 spaces.
Construction plans include concrete drive and parking areas, concrete sidewalks and a stormwater detention system.
Neikirk Engineering, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, is the civil engineer and project applicant.
While under technical review, the water management district has 30 days to request additional information regarding the application. Newkirk Engineering has 90 days to respond.
In Clay County, two O’Reilly Auto Parts stores operate in Orange Park at 5102 Blanding Blvd. and 1980 Wells Road. A third is in Fleming Island at 1545 County Road 220, No. 113. A fourth is in Middleburg at 2683 Blanding Blvd.
A fifth is planned at 1718 Verdad St. in Green Cove Springs. Clay County began the approval process for that store in October.
According to the company’s corporate website, O’Reilly was founded in 1957 and began with one store in Springfield, Missouri.
It operates about 6,400 stores in 48 states and Puerto Rico, 69 in Mexico and 23 in Canada. The company employs more than 93,000 people.
