A proposed Parker’s Kitchen gas station and convenience in the Wildlight community of Yulee is advancing a year after plans for the project were presented to the Nassau County Development Review Committee.

The St. Johns River Water Management District and Nassau County began reviewing applications for the project June 4.

The proposed site is at William Burgess Boulevard off Florida 200 in the Publix-anchored Crossings at Wildlight shopping center.

Plans show a 5,175-square-foot convenience store with eight gas pumps and 16 fueling stations.

Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. of Jacksonville is the agent and civil engineer.

It is one of six potential Parker’s Kitchen stores under consideration in Clay, Duval and Nassau counties.

The company is planning a North Jacksonville site at Faye Road and Alta Drive; a Westside location at northeast Wilson Boulevard and Middleburg Road; one at Blanding and Tanglewood boulevards in Orange Park; one at a closed CVS at 9100 Atlantic Blvd. in the Regency area; and another in South Jacksonville.

The store sells “Southern-inspired” food. The ParkersKitchen.com menu includes biscuits baked daily on-site, catfish, grits, sausage patties and gravy, chicken tenders, pork chops, pulled pork sandwiches, fried okra, breakfast burritos, lemonade and “Signature Chewy Ice.”

According to its website, Parker’s Kitchen aims to “redefine foodservice and convenience, offering freshly prepared Southern-inspired food, high-quality products, and superior customer service” at retail stores throughout coastal Georgia and South Carolina.

Founder and CEO Greg Parker opened the first store in Midway, Georgia, in 1976. In June, Parker’s Kitchen announced an expansion into Augusta, Georgia. That store opened May 24 at Mike Padgett Highway and Tobacco Road.
