The First Coast YMCA chose Studio 9 Architecture and Dav-Lin LLC as the architect and general contractor for the design and renovation of its Brown Family YMCA branch in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Both firms are based in Jacksonville.
Construction on the planned $4.1 million project is expected to begin this summer. The branch will remain open during the work, according to a June 5 news release.
Renovations will include an enhanced wellness center with new equipment; updated KidZone and locker rooms; a new cycling studio and recovery room; a refreshed welcome center; and updated restrooms.
The project is supported by a $4.1 million capital campaign that has reached 95% of its goal.
The Brown Family YMCA opened in 1999 at 171 Landrum Lane. According to YMCA.org, “Since its opening in 1999, the Brown Family YMCA has been a cornerstone of health, wellness, and community spirit here in Ponte Vedra Beach. Serving 9,000 individuals annually, our Y also sees the highest teen participation across First Coast YMCA branches, with teenagers accounting for 30% of 175,000 visits each year.”
