St. Johns County is reviewing plans for a second D1 Training facility.

It is planned at 35 Summerlin Lane, Suite 105, in St. Augustine, about a half-mile north of  V Pizza + Flask and Cannon.

Neptune Beach-based Atlas Built Construction is listed as the contractor for the 4,500-square-foot project.

The first D1 Training is at 10860 U.S. 1 N., Suite 202, just south of U.S. 1 and County Road 210.

D1 Training offers a proprietary program designed by a national training panel and updated every eight weeks. According to its website, all locations feature multilayered turf and customized equipment found in Division I universities.

A franchise, its network ownership includes NFL linebacker Von Miller and former players Tim Tebow, Kylie Fitts, Jordan Gay and Michael Oher.

D1 offers four age-based programs: Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (12-14), Prep (15-18) and D1 Adult. Each program is based on five athletic tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning and cool down.

The company says it has more than 100 locations and more than 250 in development. There are 18  in Florida.

D1 Training was founded in 2001 by former NFL fullback Will Bartholomew in Nashville, Tennessee, and began franchising in 2017.

The NFL Players Association has endorsed D1 as an approved training facility. It is also a preferred partner of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
