Publix is expanding its presence in St. Johns County.
The grocery chain confirmed Oct. 8 that it has signed a lease for a store at Veterans and Longleaf Pines parkways in an area that has seen increasing commercial development in recent years.
The location is in north St. Johns County about 3.8 miles southeast of the interchange of Interstate 95 and U.S. 98. It is north of The Church of Eleven22 St. Johns campus.
A St. Johns River Water Management District application lists the applicant as Shops of Veterans LLC, based in Jacksonville. The filing indicates the company is moving forward with plans for a full-service supermarket at the northeast corner of the intersection.
“I can confirm that we have signed a lease for a store at Veterans Parkway and Longleaf Pines Parkway,” a Publix spokesperson said in a statement.
No other details on the store were available from Publix.
The new location would join several other Publix stores in St. Johns County and could provide additional shopping options for the growing population in the area.
