The U.S. Department of Transportation has named Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh to a national aviation advisory committee.

On March 26, DOT officials appointed VanLoh to the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee as an airport operator representative. It is a two-year term.

The committee evaluates aviation consumer protection programs and recommends improvements to Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, according to the ACPAC website.

Membership includes airport operators and representatives of air carriers, state and local governments and nonprofit groups. A list of committee membership was not listed online and was not immediately available.

Ryan Patanaphan, a senior attorney in the DOT Office of Aviation Consumer Protection, said VanLoh’s experience leading the Jacksonville Aviation Authority brings important perspective to the committee’s work.

Congress established the consumer protection committee in 2012 as part of Federal Aviation Administration modernization legislation. The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 extended authorization of the committee through Sept. 30, 2028.
