Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed four new members and reappointed four members to the Florida State College at Jacksonville district board of trustees, the governor’s office announced April 2.
The new appointees are:
- Virginia Berg is director of major gifts for the Jacksonville University College of Law. Previously, she was director of government relations at FSCJ and director of appointments for the executive office of the governor. Berg is chair of the Jacksonville Public Library board of trustees and the American Enterprise Institute.
- April Carney is president and interior designer of REDEW Design Build and vice chair of the Duval County School board.
- Daniel Martell is vice president of regulatory political affairs at NextEra Energy Resources and a member of the Florida Housing Finance Corp. board of directors.
- Alan Wachs is a partner at the Smith Gambrell and Russell law firm and a member of the 5th District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
The reappointed members are:
- Thomas McGehee, Jr. is retired and previously was executive vice president of Mac Papers Inc.
- Rod Odom is retired and previously was president of AT&T/Bellsouth.
- Dr. Andrew Shaw is a neurosurgeon at Lyerly Neurosurgery – Baptist Health. He is a member of the North America Neuromodulation Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
- Orrin “Wayne” Young is vice president of environmental sciences at JEA. He is a member of the Leadership Jacksonville board of directors, Community Hospice Veterans Partnership for Northeast Florida and Military Officers Association.
