Plans for a Parker’s Kitchen gas station and convenience store are moving forward in Yulee’s Wildlight community, the northernmost location in Florida for the Savannah-based chain.
On Feb. 3, the Nassau County Development Review Committee granted technical approval to a site engineering plan for the proposed store, a signal to department heads that it meets county requirements before requisite permits are issued.

The proposed 5,175-square-foot store is planned at William Burgess Boulevard off Florida 200 in the Crossings at Wildlight shopping center, near Publix. Plans include eight gas pumps with 16 fueling stations. Kimley-Horn & Associates of Jacksonville is handling the engineering work.
Ahead of the DRC recommendation, Parker’s Kitchen obtained an environmental resource permit from the St. Johns River Water Management District on June 24, which is designed to ensure the project will not negatively affect water quality, increase flooding or damage wetlands.
The Wildlight site is one of six Parker’s Kitchen locations under consideration across Clay, Duval and Nassau counties. The company is looking at sites in North Jacksonville, the Westside, Orange Park, the Regency area and South Jacksonville.
Parker’s Kitchen specializes in Southern-inspired food made fresh on-site, including biscuits, catfish, chicken tenders, pulled pork and fried okra.
Greg Parker founded the chain in 1976 in Midway, Georgia, and currently operates stores throughout coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
