Not long after being erected for Main Street Bridge drivers, Landing owner Toney Sleiman’s sign advocating for government officials to not raise taxes and “do your job” came down Tuesday. Sleiman (left), said he received two citations and didn’t want to break the law. The citations reflect the sign being in excess of four square feet per side and more than six feet from the ground, along with being displayed within 10 feet from the right of way. He displayed the sign, he said, for his tenants and the people of Jacksonville and he hopes they continue to voice displeasure with potential tax increases. City Council member Richard Clark (right) said the message is one he agrees with and believes government needs to be shrunk. As for the timing of the sign, the former Council president wished it was up during his term. “I didn’t get a nice sign like this last year,” noted Clark.
