Dylan Owens (middle) hasn’t been around for all of Woody’s Bar-B-Q’s 30 years, but he’s now part of its history. To celebrate the company’s anniversary, owners Woody Mills (left) and Yolanda Mills-Mawman held a “living green” contest for children to create a a pig from recycled materials. Of the more than a dozen submitted, Dylan’s entry – with a bleach-bottle body, soda-can legs, and water bottle-top eyes and nose – took home the grand prize of a new laptop. “It feels good,” he said. “I came in the restaurant and saw a picture of the pig (Percy, Woody’s mascot) and said ‘that’s how I want it to look.’” Dylan said he then went online for the mascot’s picture before finding the materials and spending the next two days on the piece (bottom). It will be on display at the restaurant’s original location at 1638 University Blvd. S., at University and Atlantic boulevards.
